SOUTH AFRICA AT A CROSSROADS. Professor Ben Carton, Departments of History and African American Studies. This lecture will focus on the ways in which South Africa's new democracy faces challenges from the Black youth who until recently fought to abolish the apartheid regime. As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the GMU Office of Health Education Services and the Women's Studies Research and Resource Center are sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness program on October 22, 1997 from 12pm - 1pm in the Women's Studies Research and Resource Center, Johnson Center 240K. Attend this valuable educational program and learn more about Breast Self-Esam (BSE), clinical breast examinations, mammograms, and breast cancer. The American Cancer Society video "Instructions for Breast Self-Exam" will be shown, educational literature will be distributed and everyone will receive a door prize. The presentation will be facilitated by Judy McCarthy of the Fairfax Health Department and Ingrid Paris-Hinkling of the American Cancer Society. For more information, contact Judy Palmore at 993-3590.
